Our core area is translation. We offer this service in almost all languages at the highest possible level.
We can work with texts in all common file formats, such as

• DTP programmes such as InDesign, Quicksilver, QuarkXPress, etc.

We of course also work in the client's own programmes.

If you wish, we offer proofreading using the 4-eye principle. med-translations is registered for DIN EN 17100 for this service. A second specialist translator proofreads the translation word by word before it is delivered to you.

We also proofread texts you have created in the source text for correct spelling, punctuation, content and, if desired, style for specific audiences.

med-translations is completely familiar with the latest CAT tools such as TRADOS. These enable the creation of translation memories for our clients. Text segments of your translation are stored and a customised glossary is created. This translation memory is used for future projects with the same subject matter, ensuring consistent, uniform terminology while enabling discounts for repetitions.

med-translations takes the weight off your shoulders: As well as highly qualified translations, we offer you a full range of DTP services. Would you like your posters, manuals or brochures translated? Send us your open layout data in InDesign, QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator, etc. and we will take care of the rest, right down to the fully laid out, ready-for-press text.

To this end, we work together with numerous sworn translators who are familiar with what is specifically needed when it comes to translating documents.

 

In the case of so-called over-certification (or legalisation/apostille), the translator's signature is first confirmed by a notary or by the district court itself, which then legalises the certified translation. This is necessary if the certified translation is intended for use abroad.

You can find out beforehand whether you need to obtain an apostille or legalisation for German documents or whether bilateral agreements are in force by contacting a foreign agency in the country in which the document is to be used.

We are able to offer foreign-language voiceovers and subtitling for your promotional videos and commercials.
Send us your open video files and we will take care of the dubbing by professional narrators and the creation of subtitles.
For voiceovers, we can provide you with a choice of voices in advance.
Upon request, we deliver an audio or subtitling file to you in the desired file format or incorporate it directly in your video.

The combination of machine (pre-)translation and post-editing by highly-qualified human professional translators can save time and money, and can, for certain types of text and areas of application, be a good alternative to purely human translation.
The final quality of such translations depends heavily on the desired area of application and the desired level of post-editing.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is developing at a rapid pace and is being used in more and more service sectors. This also applies to specialised translations. It should, however, only be used to assist professional translators as a means of saving time and costs. The work of a human professional translator is essential in order to be on the safe side when it comes to quality and, in particular, liability issues.
At med-translations, you can choose from the following post-editing services:

• Machine translation + full post-editing + proofreading
  The text is pre-translated by machine and a professional translator carries out full post-editing (FPE).
  Full post-editing involves revising the text completely in order to achieve a level of translation quality comparable to that of a professional human translation. Afterwards, the translation is checked by a second professional translator.
• Machine translation + full post-editing
  The text is pre-translated by machine and a professional translator carries out full post-editing (FPE). Additional proofreading by a second professional translator is not performed.
• Machine translation + light post-editing
  The text is pre-translated by machine and a professional translator carries out light post-editing (LPE).
  Light post-editing involves solely the correction of major content errors.
  Here, the focus is purely on the usability and comprehensibility of the translation. Grammar, spelling, terminology, style and poor readability are only corrected if the text would otherwise be wholly incomprehensible.
• Machine translation only
  The text is machine-translated and used without being checked by a human.
  A text of this kind can contain major content and linguistic errors, some of which are very difficult to spot.
